About Us

Philosophy - At The DogPLAYce, the underlying philosophy is simple – let good dogs be good dogs. Let them run, let them play, let them curl up on the sofa for a comfy rest when Mom and/or Dad can’t be around.  We treat your dog(s) as if they were our very own.  They are always supervised and secure, but allowed to have as much freedom as their individual dispositions allow.  We understand the special bond between you and your dog(s) which is why we strive to treat every dog with the same kindness and respect they would receive at home.  Our goal at all times is to create an environment that is not only safe and clean, but is comfortable and stimulating as well.

Quality of Life – We are committed to providing the best quality of life for your dog, as you would at home.  Maintaining and teaching your dog everyday manners is a main priority at The DogPLAYce.  Whether your dog stays with us for daycamp or overnight, good dog behaviors are a part of everyday life at The DogPLAYce.  All dogs practice and are positively rewarded (praise and yummy treats!) for good dog behaviors such as sit, down, come, no jumping on the hired help, no charging the door, being quiet, no mouthing, etc.  Our daily good dog manners reinforcement does not replace the expertise you receive at training facilities such as A Good Dog’s Life and other positive motivation-based trainers in the Asheville area, but supports the maintenance of your dog’s manners when you are away.

Our facility is small by design accepting a maximum of ten dogs at any one time creating an environment that can accommodate your dog’s individual temperament and tolerance, and insures individualized attention.  Guests are pre-screened so that only non-aggressive, well-socialized dogs are accepted.  Dogs that play well with others can play.  Dogs that need more human contact have more human contact.  Dogs that need rest and relaxation, have that as well.

Minimal Confinement – Kennels and separate areas generously sized for different sized dogs are used minimally to maintain a safe and non-stressful environment for all the dogs under our care.  Most guests roam freely throughout the home-like facility and sleep wherever they choose, sofas being the main attraction. It’s as close to home as you can get for your canine companion(s).

Our facility – We offer a secure, fenced play area for playtime and exercise throughout the day.  Inside the facility is bright and airy with high ceilings and a large living room with sofas and dog beds where your dog sleeps at night and can play indoors during rainy days, rest, listen to the radio, or watch TV.
